Mapping China Continued

The inaugural Mapping China meeting on June 21 was a fine start for
our effort to identify interesting projects to develop that are related
to China, geography, maps and, of course, people. We’ve decided
to keep on rolling with this and invite you to Meeting II, when we will
talk about specific projects to work on, including internet mapping
and activities for young children. We’ll also be exploring the
story of a recently discovered 18th century map— the Mo Yiting
map—which is claimed to have been created in 1763, based on a
map drawn in 1418. It is at the center of a somewhat heated discussion
regarding the possibility that the Chinese discovered America.
