China is making some problematic bets as it tries to increase the prosperity
of its people while maintaining strict control - can it continue with
liberal economic policies without political reform? A clearly modernizing
nation, can it become great without a core set of values beyond wealth
accumulation? Its rapidly aging population presents opportunities for
western businesses with health care know-how and its serious environmental
concerns will present markets for clean technology companies. What economic,
political, and social trends in China will most impact western business
interests?
