Sino-Tibetan Dialogue—Prospects and
Perils
with Dr. Lobsang Sangay
Dr. Lobsang Sangay is presently a Research Fellow at East
Asian Legal Studies Program, Harvard Law School. He earned his Doctorate
in law, and master's degree from Harvard Law School, and did his LLB
and B.A. (Honors) from Delhi University, India.
He was a recipient of the 2004 Yong K. Kim' 95 Prize of excellence
for his Doctorate dissertation and Fulbright Fellowship to study at
Harvard Law School. In India, he was a student leader and was elected
as one of the youngest national executive members of the Tibetan Youth
Congress, the largest NGO among Tibetans in exile.
For the last eleven years, in his Track II Initiative, Dr. Sangay has
organized five unprecedented conferences between Chinese and Tibetan
scholars, including an ice breaking meeting between HH the Dalai Lama
and 35 Chinese scholars at Harvard University in 1993.
He has given numerous talks on Sino-Tibet conflict and exile Tibetan
issues in various institutes and venues around the world. Recently,
the Asia 21 Young Leaders Forum of the Asia Society selected him as
one of the 25 Young Leaders of Asia.
