East China is one of the wealthiest and fastest growing
areas in China with a large concentration of high tech firms. The region
includes Shanghai and the three surrounding provinces. This talk will
cover the opportunities and challenges that US exporters, particularly
small and midsize high tech companies, might experience in selling to
this marketplace:

Francis “Chip” Peters began serving as Commercial Officer
in Shanghai, China in July 2006, to assist U.S. companies entering the
local market. He is responsible for leading a team of three industry
specialists covering high tech, financial, and chemical sectors.
Prior to joining the U.S. Commercial Service, Mr. Peters had over 14
years of experience in technology, computer and telecom industries.
He has operated his own company and has worked in management positions
in product marketing, international sales and global marketing with
various technology companies. He has also spent several years on assignment
in Thailand and Malaysia.
Mr. Peters holds a B.A. cum laude in International Relations from Union
College, a M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University, and
an MBA in International Business from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok,
Thailand. His languages include Thai, French, Chinese and Bambara.
