The Lecture

Prof. Lee is an authority on the Chinese-American experience. This lecture focuses on Chinese female intellectuals who immigrated to the United States in eary and late 20th Century, for education and career. Their rarity and identities as people with strong affiliations to China, and as people developing new identities in the U.S. is discussed. Local and regional examples wil be cited.

The Speaker

Professor Douglas W. Lee has a B.A. from Lewis & Clark College; M.A. from University of Michigan; Ph.D. from University of California, Santa Barbara; and J.D. from Northwest School of Law, Lewis & Clark College. He is a faculty member of the Asian Studies Department and Asian American Studies Department at City College of San Francisco, and a visiting professor at Portland State University this summer. Professor Lee is a member of the Chinese Historical Society of America and is finishing a two-volume manuscript at this time.
