Ms. Hong Chou received her Bachelor and Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. Her own performance has included recitals in the U.S., China, as well as touring in Europe and Canada with professional orchestras. Her students are involved in Portland Youth Philharmonic, Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Houston Youth Philharmonic, as well as majoring in violin performance in universities. Ms. Chou has been a member of the American String Teachers Association, National Music Teachers Association, Oregon Music Teachers Association, College Music Society, International Society of Music Education and has served on the board of Portland Youth Philharmonic, ASTA- Oregon Chapter, and Portland – Suzhou Sister Cities Association.

Dr. Susan Chan is Assistant Professor of music and piano area coordinator in department of music at Portland state university. She performs extensively as soloist and chamber musician, and actively promotes music from Asia and that written by women composers in addition to traditional repertoire. Various prizes she has received in competitions include first prizes in the Hong Kong Young Musicians Award, the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale, and the Mozart Piano Concerto Competition at Indiana University. She has appeared as soloist with the Dnepropetrovsk State Philharmonic in Ukraine, Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, and the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra in Indiana.
